Help & Guide

Talkano Docs

Train your AI, connect it to your website · Instagram · WhatsApp and answer your customers 24/7 in your own voice. The steps below are enough to get set up in 10 minutes.

What is Talkano?

Talkano lets your business set up its own AI assistant. You upload your products, frequently asked questions and documents; the assistant answers only with this information, in the tone and language you set — it never makes things up.

The assistant works in your website chat bubble, in Instagram DMs and on WhatsApp. When it’s confident it replies automatically; when it’s not, it hands the conversation over to you (in your inbox).

No-setup: no need for your own API keyEnglish and multilingualQuota-based packages — no surprise bills

Quick start (10 minutes)

1

Create an account and a business

Use Start free to sign in with your Google/Apple account and create your business. Each business starts with a 14-day free Demo package.
2

Write your assistant’s personality

Panel → Prompt: define the tone, language and rules. The clearer you are, the more accurate the answers.
3

Fill in the knowledge base

Panel → Q&A, Products and Documents: add the information or use “import from site” to teach it from your website automatically.
4

Connect a channel

Add a widget to your website or connect Instagram/WhatsApp. To test it, use the Test chat — try it before going live.

Test chat

Try it before going live; see the confidence score of every answer.

Smart knowledge base (big data)

Q&A capacity by plan: Demo 20, Starter 50, Pro 1,000; products/services: 5 / 20 / 100. On Pro, semantic searchkicks in: on every message the assistant pulls the most relevant records from among thousands — covering all your knowledge without straining the system.

Channels

Website widget

Panel → Widget: set the color, welcome message and suggested questions. Paste the single line of code before your site’s </body> tag — it shows on all pages. If you want, turn on lead capture. Depending on the plan it runs on at most 1 domain (3 on Pro); Pro can hide/change the branding.

Instagram DM

Panel → Settings → Instagram → connect in one click. Your account must be Business/Professional. Once connected, the assistant replies to incoming DMs.

Telegram

Create a bot via @BotFather, paste the token into Panel → Settings → Connections → Telegram— that's it. No approval process and no 24-hour window; the bot starts replying instantly. Available on all packages. Step-by-step guide →

WhatsApp

Panel → Settings → WhatsApp“Connect with Facebook” → pick your number. Your number must be registered on the WhatsApp Cloud API (and not active in the phone app). It works with the same knowledge base and inbox.

Connect with ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini (add your info easily)

If you don’t want to fill in the panel one item at a time, you can connect ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to Talkano and add your business information by chatting: “crawl this site and fill it in”, “add these Q&As”, “make my assistant’s tone friendly” and so on. All operations stay within your plan limits. If you don’t have an account, you can sign up right there while connecting.

Your connection (MCP) address:

https://talkano.ai/api/mcp

You’ll paste this address into the “connector / MCP server URL” field in the steps below. (You can copy the same thing from the Connections page in the panel.)

Connecting with Claude (step by step)

  1. Go to claude.ai from a computer (this setting may not be available in the mobile app).
  2. Top right → SettingsConnectors tab.
  3. Click the “Add custom connector” button.
  4. Paste the address above into the box: https://talkano.ai/api/mcpAdd.
  5. Claude redirects you to the Talkano sign-in screen. Sign in with email (code) or Google — if you don’t have an account, sign up with email.
  6. On the “Authorize” screen, click Authorize. You’ll be returned to Claude and the connection is ready.
  7. Try it in chat: “Create a business for me on Talkano”, then “crawl this site and fill in my knowledge base: yoursite.com”.

Connecting with ChatGPT (step by step)

Do this in a browser on chatgpt.com — the desktop app’s menus may differ. Depending on version this section is called “Connectors”, “Apps” or “Plugins”; they’re all the same place.

  1. First enable Developer Mode: Settings Security and login → turn on Developer mode. Can’t find it? Type developer into the “Search settings” box. (Workspace accounts may need admin approval.)
  2. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and click the “+” (Create / Add) button.
  3. In the form: Name = Talkano; paste into MCP server URL: https://talkano.ai/api/mcp.
  4. If asked, choose OAuth, check “I trust this provider”Create.
  5. Sign in / sign up on the Talkano sign-in screenAuthorize. To use it in a chat, enable Talkano from the “+” menu in the message box.
  6. Try it in chat: “Show a summary of my business’s knowledge base on Talkano”.

Connecting with Gemini (Gemini CLI · Mac / Windows / Linux)

You connect through the Gemini CLI. First make sure Node.js 20+ is installed (get it from nodejs.org). Then open a command line:

  • Mac / Linux: Terminal.
  • Windows: PowerShell or Command Prompt (type PowerShell in the Start menu). If you get a permission error, open it via “Run as administrator”.
  1. Install the Gemini CLI: npm install -g @google/gemini-cli
  2. Add Talkano: gemini mcp add --transport http talkano https://talkano.ai/api/mcp
  3. Type gemini to start — on first use the browser opens by itself (if not, type /mcp auth talkano inside).
  4. Sign in / sign up on the Talkano sign-in screen that opens → Authorize.
  5. Try it in chat: “Create a business for me on Talkano”.

Note: this is the most practical path for now — the Gemini web app doesn’t support custom connectors yet (Google’s side). The day it does, you’ll connect with one click like Claude; the address stays the same.

What can you say once connected?

  • “Create a business for me: Ada Apart Pansiyon”
  • “Crawl this site and fill it in: amasraadaapart.com”
  • “Add this Q&A: ‘Is there parking?’ → ‘Yes, free’”
  • “Add a product: Deluxe Room, for 2 people, 2,500 TL per night”
  • “Make the assistant’s tone friendly, and have it speak only English”

If you get stuck

  • If you see “Connection off / Feature unavailable”: make sure you pasted the connector address correctly (https://talkano.ai/api/mcp, with nothing else at the end).
  • If the sign-in screen doesn’t open: turn off the pop-up blocker and use a desktop browser (the mobile and desktop APPS usually don’t support adding a connector — set it up on the chatgpt.com / claude.ai website).
  • If there’s no custom connector option: in ChatGPT, enable Developer Mode (Settings → Security and login → Developer mode; the section may be called “Connectors / Apps / Plugins”); in Claude, use the web (claude.ai) version; in Gemini, use Gemini CLI instead of the web app.
  • If it still doesn’t work, follow the steps on the Connections page in the panel, or write to us — we’ll connect it together.

Working hours (you or the AI?)

Panel → Working hours: set up a weekly schedule. The AI only replies automatically on the days/hours you choose (Instagram + WhatsApp). You decide what happens outside working hours:

  • Silent: the message lands in your inbox and you reply.
  • Info message: the customer gets a short “we’ll get back to you” message.
  • Me first, then the AI: if you don’t reply within the time you set, the assistant takes over.

Team

Panel → Settings → Team: add members by email (Admin edits everything, Agent manages the inbox). The person you add — if they have a Talkano account — sees the business in their own panel.

Packages & usage quota

Every package includes its features and a usage quota. The Demo package is free for 14 days; the Starter and Pro quotas renew every month. When the quota is used up the assistant stops and messages are left to your team — no surprise bills; the panel suggests moving up a package. Track your status on the Usage page.

Packages: Demo (free for 14 days), Starter, Pro (semantic search, unbranded widget, 3 domains, all channels) and Custom (a contract sized to your needs). See pricing.
